Affirmations That Don’t Feel Cringe (And Actually Work)
Look, I used to roll my eyes at affirmations too.
Telling yourself “I am abundant” when your bank account is on life support feels… delusional. Saying “I am calm” while in a full-blown spiral? Yeah, sure.
But here’s the thing: it’s not about convincing yourself.
It’s about training your brain to expect better.
And repetition is how we rewire.
Affirmations are one of the simplest, cheapest, no-side-effects tools I’ve used to shift my story and reprogram the overthinking, spiralling mess that used to run the show.
What Are Affirmations?
Short, powerful statements that help you:
-
Interrupt negative thought loops
-
Install new beliefs
-
Start the day in a better state (instead of doomscrolling or catastrophising)
-
Rewire your brain — for real. It’s called neuroplasticity, baby.
Think of them like reps at the gym. You don’t get strong with one squat. You get strong by repeating the right movements over time.
Same with your thoughts.
The Trick? Don’t Just Think Them. SAY Them.
Say them out loud. Or whisper them. Or sing them while walking.
Because when your voice and your body get involved, the affirmation hits differently.

🚶♀️💃 Walking/Dancing Affirmation Tracks
Whether you’re pacing the house or strutting down the street, these give you rhythm and repetition to rewire on the move:
You don’t have to believe them at first. Just hit play and let it loop. (These are a bit 80’s cringe, but I actually love them).
How I Use Them
-
In the shower (no one can hear me shout “I am powerful” in there) – bonus water reset too.
-
On walks – the walking/dancing link above is great to move to – bonus move reset
-
While cooking
-
When I feel a spiral creeping in
- Bounding on my rebounder
Want to Try It?
Pick an affirmation track. Try these:
Say them out loud. Repeat. Feel silly? Good. You’re rewiring.
Use any of the tracks above, or find others you like and USE THEM daily for a week and just notice what shifts.
TL;DR
-
Affirmations work (especially when spoken)
-
They’re free, simple, and a little bit addictive
-
Start with this general track or move your body with this one
-
Say it till you believe it. Then say it some more.
Your brain is listening. So give it something better to hear.
